8th Annual APEEN Conference on Energy Flexibility for a Just Transition
On April 10, 2025, Fernando Luis-Ferreira from UNINOVA presented a paper titled “Promoting Inclusive Twin Transitions in Europe: The FITTER Research Project” at the 8th Annual APEEN Conference on Energy Flexibility for a Just Transition, hosted by Universidade da Beira Interior in Covilhã, Portugal. The leitmotif of the event – a just transition in the energy sector, which is one of the key use cases addressed by FITTER-EU, making it an excellent opportunity to share the project's intermediate results and ongoing activities. The paper highlighted the methodologies employed by the project to analyze the challenges of Europe’s twin transitions, with particular attention to the social and economic inequalities associated with both the green and digital dimensions. As a central goal of the project is to support policymakers, one of its main tools under development – an interactive digital platform, was a key focus of the presentation. Featuring gamification elements, this platform is designed to assist policymakers in evaluating policy performance and enhancing decision-making.
